Console versions of the game might arrive in the future

Blizzard has started talking a bit more about bringing its Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft experience to consoles like PS4 or Xbox One. However, the studio notes that a lot of time is needed to make these versions a reality, as the team wants to nail down the experience, just like it did on mobile devices.

Hearthstone launched last year on PC and Mac, and then rolled out onto the iPad platform. In the following months, it slowly but surely rolled out onto iPhones, as well as on Android tablets and smartphones.

Seeing as how the collectible card game is showing no signs of decreasing in popularity, more and more fans are asking Blizzard to bring it to new platforms, such as consoles like the PS4 or Xbox One.

Hearthstone might appear on consoles but a lot of work is needed

The studio's Executive Producer, Hamilton Chu, tells Gamespot that plenty of fan feedback revolves around bringing the game to consoles. However, these new versions of the game can't be completed all that easily, as the studio's emphasis on perfection, and its desire to make sure that the title feels great on the devices, means a lot of time is needed.

"We're console players too. So definitely, we love to get Hearthstone out to more players and letting them play however they want. It's definitely something we think about. To make Hearthstone feel as good on phone as it did on PC and tablet took a while. So for us, it would be no less important to nail the experience on console than any other platform. So if we did it, we'd want to take our time to do it right," he explains.

Blizzard's last console project was Diablo 3, which arrived on PS3 and Xbox 360, as well as on PS4 and Xbox One through the Ultimate Evil Edition. However, its main home is on the PC, as most of its big projects are available only on computers. It's going to be interesting to see when Hearthstone might join Diablo 3 on consoles.
