Players are promised the classic gameplay experience

Blizzcon is in full swing with many tournaments taking place at the annual event in Anaheim, California. Just like every other year, Blizzard made the big announcements at the beginning of the show since most of the new stuff unveiled can be played at show.

One of the most exciting announcements this year targets World of Warcraft players . After years of “battle” between the development team and fans of the World of Warcraft “vanilla” servers, Blizzard conceded and accepted the idea that there are many players who prefer to play an older version of its MMORPG.

Blizzard announced over the weekend the upcoming launch of World of Warcraft Classic, which will have the option to choose to play on a “vanilla” server. According to World of Warcraft Producer J. Allen Brack, the game won't be exactly in the same state as before the Burning Crusade expansion, but something along those lines.

Brack went on to say that Blizzard is committed to “reproduce the classic experience, but not the actual launch experience.” So, probably an up to date graphics and small gameplay tweaks meant to improve the overall experience are certainly in order.

Unfortunately, not many details on the World of Warcraft Classic were unveiled at event yet, but Blizzard promised to provide more information on the “vanilla” experience in the not so distant future.

Truth be told, Blizzard's announcement is not really a surprise, since the US company closed a few unofficial “vanilla” servers in the last few years. Reportedly, up to one million players preferred these servers instead of the full World of Warcraft experience offered by the official servers.

No release date was provided for World of Warcraft Classic, but we're certain there won't be any “vanilla” servers available until next year. That would be enough time to learn more about what Blizzard plans to offer fans of the “vanilla” World of Warcraft.
