Now that The Voice is back on NBC and all the judges / mentors have been doing more appearances to promote it, you might have noticed that country crooner Blake Shelton is looking visibly slimmer than before. That’s because the divorce diet is helping him shift the extra pounds, he explains in a new interview.

In July, Blake and now-ex-wife Miranda Lambert announced their divorce after 4 years of marriage, an announcement that shocked the fans and the media because no one had any idea they were having issues. The divorce was a very quick one, becoming final in under 2 weeks.

Blake Shelton opens up on Lambert divorce

As noted above, Blake is doing the media rounds to promote the brand new season of The Voice, just like the other judges. Because the divorce is recent, it was a topic that was bound to come out at some point, so no wonder it happened on his chat with Blair Garner on America’s Morning Show first.

As you can hear in the video below, Blake’s approach will be to play it cool, so if you were hoping for something juicy to emerge from the press tour, you’re out of luck. There have been some rumors about how the divorce isn’t even half as amicable as they tried to make it sound, but we’ll probably not hear it from Blake.

Speaking of his recent weight loss, the country crooner admits to the obvious (that he’s lost weight), and says that he’s on “the divorce diet.” It’s not that he’s hitting the gym with more frequency or trying on purpose for a slimmer, more toned look, but rather that he’s so caught up with work and adjusting to his new life that he’s either forgetting to eat or burning more calories than before, or both.

Garner relates, saying he too has been on the divorce diet, but with him, it had the opposite effect, in the sense that he really “went to town” with his calorie intake when his marriage crumbled.

Blake is fine though, and so is Miranda

In a separate interview, this time with The Bobby Bones Show, Blake assures his fans that he’s ok. He might be thinner, but he’s coping with the dissolution of his marriage to Miranda. In fact, he promises, they’re still “buddies.”

“Our whole thing was: You know, we're just going to be cool about this. It is what it is. We're buddies,” he says, as cited by AceShowbiz. As for how quick the divorce was, he credits the legislation in Oklahoma, but also their desire to keep the details of the split under wraps.

“We knew if rumblings and rumors started coming out, they would be just that, because by the time anybody knew anything, it was over - it was done,” Blake explains.
