If we are to believe the latest rumors, BlackBerry is very close to releasing a new smartphone. The so-called BlackBerry Venice was leaked quite some time ago, and we already have a pretty good idea of what the smartphone will look like.

The Venice should be BlackBerry's first Android smartphone, but the company has not openly admitted these rumors.

However, BlackBerry has said that if they can make a secure Android smartphone, then they will definitely launch one.

Besides the fact that it will run Android operating system, BlackBerry Venice will feature a slider form factor, which isn't necessarily unusual for the Canadian company since it has a long track of such smartphones.

Even though we've definitely had our fair share of renders of the BlackBerry Venice, the folks over at BlackBerryOS have spotted a live picture of the device captured during Toronto Film Festival.

The problem is, we can't see that much, so we can't tell for sure whether or not this is indeed the unannounced BlackBerry Venice slider smartphone.

Apparently, the only thing that should confirm that this is the BlackBerry Venice is the fact that it has the Android Messenger opened. Also, the smartphone seems to be a bit thicker than the usual, and the silver edges suggest that this a slider device.

The rumored specs

Obviously, the image doesn't come with any new details about the phone's specs sheet, so we're left with what we already know but hasn't been confirmed yet.

It looks like the Venice will boast a 5.4-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x1440 pixels) resolution.

BlackBerry's Android smartphone is said to be equipped with a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and 3GB of RAM.

Also, the Venice is projected to pack an 18-megapixel camera on the back with autofocus, LED flash, and video recording. That's about all we have about the Venice for the moment, but more details are expected to surface in the coming months.
