The app incorrectly reports the phone's status

BlackBerry releases OS updates pretty often, especially since Google has decided to launch security patches each month, thus allowing handset makers to provide the same level of security to their devices, too.

However, there are many BlackBerry apps that are coming pre-installed on the company's most recent devices, which are updated in a timely manner as well. DTEK is one of the apps that have been updated several times in the last couple of weeks.

The bad news is one of the previous updates included a bug that now affects many BlackBerry smartphones that have the DTEK app installed.

Fortunately, the issue doesn't seem to be widespread, but the number of affected users is just enough to determine BlackBerry to update the Knowledge Base and inform customers that it is now working on fixing the problem.

But what's this all about anyway? It appears that many BlackBerry users claim that the DTEK application incorrectly reports the status of their smartphones.

The issue has been acknowledged by BlackBerry, so if you notice that when opening the DTEK app the device's security status shows as poor and the following message is shown under operating system integrity: “The integrity of the operating system is compromised,” then your phone is affected by this issue.

According to BlackBerry, the issue is under investigation, so a resolution is not yet available. Still, the Canadian company provides affected users with a workaround.

In order to get rid of the issue, at least temporarily, you must complete a factory reset of your Android-powered BlackBerry smartphone.

Keep in mind that your phone is in no way compromised even if the DTEK app tells you that. It's just an issue with the application that, for some reason, doesn't read the status of the phone correctly.

We'll update the news with more information as soon as BlackBerry manages to replicate the issue and patch it in a future update.
