The Mobile World Congress is the year’s biggest tech event, but many smartphone makers choose to schedule press conferences days before the MWC officially starts. That is the case of BlackBerry, which has been heavily building the hype around its upcoming Mercury smartphone.

BlackBerry has just released a new teaser for the BlackBerry Mercury announcement, to be held on February 25. The teaser reads that the phone will be unveiled at 7:00 pm CET in Barcelona, Spain. The teaser also reveals the front and back side of the upcoming smartphone, clearly showing off the QWERTY physical keyboard.

BlackBerry Mercury was showcased during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last month, when the company showed off a pre-production device that still needed some work, especially when it comes to software.

4.5-inch display and 3GB of RAM

The phone was also featured on an ABC show and most of its specs are already known. BlackBerry’s upcoming smartphone with physical QWERTY keyboard codenamed Mercury is expected to come with a 4.5-inch display and 4:3 aspect ratio.

The keyboard can also be used as a trackpad and has a fingerprint sensor embedded in the space bar. The phone will have a 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type-C port, while battery capacity might reach 3,400mAh.

In terms of performance, the BlackBerry Mercury is said to come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 chipset and 3GB of RAM. It might also have an 18MP rear camera, very similar to the one found on the BlackBerry Priv.

Some rumors say that the BlackBerry Mercury could feature the same Sony sensor on the back as the one found on Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. The two phones recently released by Google are said to have the best rear camera on a smartphone and it remains to be seen if BlackBerry equipped its Mercury with such an attractive feature.
