The company is determined to keep its new smartphone the most secure Android device available on the market

BlackBerry Priv is already available for pre-order in several countries, but the smartphone will be introduced in many more regions by the end of the year.

Advertised as the most secure Android handset, the Priv is also BlackBerry's first take on Google's mobile operating system. Even though Android is the most used mobile platform, many consider it the least secure of all.

This is one of the reasons BlackBerry must convince potential customers that they have done everything to make the Priv the most secure Android smartphone soon to be available on the market.

In this regard, the Canadian company has made extensive improvements under the hood, but also added some of its own apps and services, which are supposed to be more secure than those available on Android platform.

Hotfix patching and enterprise-managed updates will be offered, too

The DTEK app made by BlackBerry is just one example, but there are more apps that come preloaded on the Priv and help enhance Android's security and privacy features.

But the improvement of Android won't stop here, and BlackBerry has announced that it will continue to work on the Priv's software for a long time.

The Canadian company has just confirmed it will offer monthly security updates for BlackBerry Priv, dealing with any potential exploits and other malicious software.

Some of you probably know by now that Google provides Android OEMs, including BlackBerry, with a security bulletin each month, which contains a list of discovered Android vulnerabilities.

A month later, the list is released for the public, so Android OEMs will have to patch up those vulnerabilities by the time they become common knowledge.

According to BlackBerry, its engineers will work hard to release these monthly updates to users that have decided to go for the Priv, regardless of the location they have purchased the smartphone, as long as these sellers/carriers have agreed to the regular monthly update program.
