BlackBerry has already confirmed it will launch its first Android-powered smartphone by the end of this year. Dubbed Priv, the device should be announced sometime in November, but it will probably go on sale in December.

Since we have already seen the BlackBerry Priv in many official and unofficial images, fans will be pleased to know that pre-registrations for the smartphone are now open.

Along with this move, BlackBerry also confirmed some of the specs of the Priv that have been running around on the Internet for several months now.

Also, a small piece of information about an Android application that will come pre-loaded on the Priv has been revealed too.

According to BlackBerry, Priv will introduce the exclusive DTEK warning system application, which is supposed to provide users with the “power of privacy,” whatever that could mean.

The Canadian company also confirmed the smartphone will come with a “stunning” 5.4-inch dual-curved capacitive touchscreen display and a “long-lasting” 3,410 mAh battery.

Rumor has it that BlackBerry Priv's display supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, which would be on par with other flagship smartphones available on the market.

The rear-facing camera will feature Schneider-Kreuznach optics. BlackBerry also mentions the Priv should offer “extraordinary audio quality,” which might be a first for the Canadian company.

Other rumored specs of the BlackBerry Priv include 3GB of RAM, 21-megapixel rear-facing camera and hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor.

Last but not least, John Chen confirmed BlackBerry Priv will be available at all major carriers in the United States, but it will also go on sale globally through as many authorized resellers as possible.
