One of the most expensive BlackBerry smartphones available on the market, the Porsche Design P'9983 has just been officially introduced in India.

According to BlackBerry India, the exquisite smartphone will be available in the next couple of days for no less than Rs 99,990 outright, which is about $1,535 or €1.380.

Given the high price, it will be interesting to see how many Porsche Design P'9983 units will sell in India, which is known as an emerging market where customers prefer affordable devices over flagships.

When it comes to specs, the smartphone offers mid-range features, so the only things that make it so expensive are the materials used for manufacture, such as hand-wrapped leather on the back door cover, glass-like keys, and graphite stainless steel color frame.

It doesn't feature dual-SIM support but offers 4G LTE

Potential customers should know that Porsche Design P'9983 is equipped with a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, Adreno 225 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

The smartphone packs 64GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB). In the back, there's an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 2-megapixel camera.

The Porsche Design P'9983 sports a 3.1-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 720 x 720 pixels resolution and is powered by a 2,100 mAh removable battery.

“With the launch of the new P'9983 Graphite from BlackBerry, we bring a unique stylish smartphone combined with the superior productivity and ultimate security experience of BlackBerry 10 technology for our Indian consumers.

“This new smartphone is custom-built for power professionals aiming to make a style statement while not willing to compromise on effective communication and collaboration” said Hitesh Shah, director – sales and distribution, at BlackBerry India.
