It looks like the inevitable will finally happen, as BlackBerry is now readying an Android smartphone which is supposed to arrive on the market by the end of the month.

In fact, there's a high chance that the Canadian company will launch more than one smartphone powered by Google's mobile operating system.

One of the devices that have been rumored to run Android platform is the BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition, which was leaked several times in the last couple of weeks.

Today, a 12-minute video showing the smartphone in action has been published on YouTube, so those who had any doubt that the Android-powered BlackBerry smartphone exists will have received the evidence they needed.

The smartphone shown in the video is codenamed Oslo and looks pretty much like the BlackBerry Passport, but features a silver color.

The Passport Silver Edition is used as a test bed for running Android OS

We've also noticed that while the handset runs Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system, it comes with a BlackBerry skin. There are apps like the BlackBerry Hub and other productivity tools that are usually present in BlackBerry smartphones, which are included in the Passport Silver Edition as well.

Even if BlackBerry won't launch a Passport Silver Edition with Android OS onboard, it's clear that the smartphone is used as a test device for running Android.

Aside from BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition, the Canadian company is also expected to launch the Venice, a slider smartphone powered by Android OS.

At least one of these devices are likely to make it to market by the end of the year and they have already been tipped to arrive in the United States through all four major carriers.

We expect more details on BlackBerry's Android smartphones to leak in the next couple of weeks, but until we have a confirmation from the Canadian company, these are just unannounced devices that might or might not make it to market.
