The device could be the first water-resistant BlackBerry

BlackBerry has already teased a new Android smartphone coming this year, and while few details were provided at that time, such as a full touchscreen and water resistance, very little was known about the direction the company was planning to embrace in terms of design.

And now thanks to a photo published by Evan Blass we can finally have a closer look at what the BlackBerry Motion could look like when it hits the market later this year, though once again no specifics were provided on when we could expect the model to go live.

Originally referred to as BlackBerry Krypton, the device might after all hit the shelves as BlackBerry Motion and the leak that took place today indeed points to a full touch phone without a physical keyboard.

Love it or hate it kind of phone

As compared to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the iPhone X, the BlackBerry Motion has gigantic bezels which remind us of the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, so it’s very likely to become the love it or hate it kind of phone. The Blackberry logo on the front that’s part of the bezel at the bottom of the screen serves a double purpose and also includes a fingerprint sensor.

The leaked photo also confirms that the phone will come with USB-C charging, as well as a headphone jack, as BlackBerry doesn’t seem to be interested in ditching this feature just yet.

The exact dimensions of the screen aren’t known just yet, but it’s likely to be somewhere between 5 and 5.5 inches. A metal frame is being used around the screen.

The new BlackBerry obviously runs Android, and it’s very likely to receive the update to Oreo shortly after the launch, if the device doesn’t come with this new version from the very beginning in the first place.

Details on the camera, battery, and pricing are not yet available, but we should expect to find out everything about it in the coming weeks as we get closer to the official launch.
