14 DAY TRIAL // BlackBerry has just announced that its BBM application had its strongest month for growth in July. According to the Canadian company, the main reason for this growth was the release of BBM version 2.9, which features Material Design improvements for Android users.
BlackBerry claims that summer holidays and strong word-of-mouth have driven BBM's growth in the last couple of months.
“BBM is continuing to grow in all aspects: from new user registrations, to our monetization streams, with ads, content, subscriptions and payments,” says BlackBerry in a blog post.
No less than 30 million stickers are sent every day over BBM, BlackBerry notes. The company confirmed that there are more than 450 free and paid sticker packs in the BBM Shop.
In addition, BlackBerry emphasizes the launch of several sticker promo campaigns, with the most recent by Rakuten that generated more than 35 million impressions in Indonesia alone during two weeks.
The future is bright for BlackBerry's BBM
Furthermore, BlackBerry states that it continues to record new milestones to its ad business. In this regard, July was no different as the Canadian company saw a strong growth through the month, even though summer months are usually less active.
“We also recently began offering video ads in BBM. The first set of video advertisers include the likes of King.com, OLX and Studio M Hotel. Video ads provide a great opportunity to drive higher revenues, while also exposing BBM users to newer exciting content on our platform,” added BlackBerry.
One of the most prolific markets for BlackBerry, Indonesia will receive PayPal integration beside instant mobile payments via BBM Money and the option to send prepaid mobile credit to sellers or friends and family, which are already available to users in this country.
According to BlackBerry, in Indonesia the most used method of payment online remain bank transfers, but PayPay might soon become another option.
