The phone will be available in Indonesia for $260 outright

Great news for BlackBerry fans living in Indonesia, as the Canadian company, through PT BB Merah Putih, the firm in charge of the distribution of BlackBerry-branded smartphones in this country, will be launching a brand new handset, the Aurora.

This isn't the first time we're reporting about the BlackBerry Aurora, but we've just learned that the phone will be officially introduced in Indonesia on March 9. The smartphone should go on sale on March 16, but customers can already pre-order the BlackBerry Aurora for $260.

Moreover, some retailers in the country offer a free JBL Go Speaker and a flip case with each BlackBerry Aurora pre-order, which is a great deal considering the phone's specs.

Speaking of which, the Aurora's hardware configuration is a bit confusing since it mixes mid-range and high-end specs. For example, the smartphone is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor and sports a 5.5-inch display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

However, for some reason, BB Merah Putih has decided to include 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage inside the Aurora. Unfortunately, the low-power chipset won't allow the phone to take advantage of the full amount of RAM, so those 4GB might have been added for nothing.

Furthermore, the Aurora has been confirmed to feature dual-SIM support and 4G LTE data speed. It will pack a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, along with a secondary 8-megapixel selfie camera on the front side.

A microSD card slot for memory expansion is available as well. The smartphone ships with Android 7.0 Nougat operating system right out of the box and packs a 3,000 mAh battery inside.

Customers who plan to pre-order the BlackBerry Aurora should know the smartphone is offered in three color choices: black, gold, and silver. The Aurora is unlikely to be released in other countries, so you might want to lower your expectations if you don't live in Indonesia.
