We clearly wouldn’t do it again, he says in an interview

Bill Gates is currently one of the richest men on Earth, and it’s all thanks to the software empire that he built when he was just a young Harvard dropout.

It goes without saying that Bill Gates lives with no regrets, but in an interview with Bloomberg, Microsoft’s founder says that there’s at least one thing he’d change if he could: the Ctrl+Alt+Del key combination used for Windows start-up in old versions.

“Fortunately most machines nowadays have moved away from that. Clearly that ended up being an awkward piece of user interface. If we had to do it over again, we wouldn’t do it. It’s sort of become this poster child of, ‘Hey, couldn’t you have made this stuff a little simpler?'” Bill Gates explained.

Not feeling any regrets for dropping out of Harvard

When asked whether he regrets dropping out of Harvard or not, Gates says he only feels “unfortunate” that he didn’t spend more time there, but he explained that studying is what he’s still doing, so it all ended up very well.

Not to mention that when looking back at how his life changed after dropping out of Harvard, it’s really hard to feel any regrets when you’re one of the world’s richest persons.

“I’m a weird dropout because I take college courses all the time. I love learning company courses, so I loved being a student. There were smart people around and they fed you and they gave you these nice grades that made you feel smart. So, I feel it was unfortunate that I didn’t get to stay there but i don’t think I missed any knowledge because whatever I needed to learn I was still in a learning mode,” Gates noted.

Bill Gates and Paul Allen co-founded Microsoft in 1975 and held several positions within the company, including chairman and CEO. Gates has a net worth of $81.7 billion according to September estimates, and is only involved in Microsoft’s business as a Technological Adviser, spending most of this time for charity work as part of the Bill and Melinda Foundation.
