Bethesda doesn't want to pump out low-quality games

Bethesda emphasizes, after a stellar E3 2015 showing, that it wants to release quality titles when they're done, instead of trying to pump out sequels as fast as possible. It also explains that other rivals would have released a "Skyrim 2" game as soon as possible, given the success of the original.

Bethesda has been around for many years, and while most gamers know it as the developer of stellar franchises like The Elder Scrolls or Fallout, it's also become a pretty big publisher, helping studios like id Software, Arkane, or MachineGames to release new titles onto the market in recent years.

The company had a great showcase at E3 2015, holding a special press event ahead of the large conference, where it presented Fallout 4, the new Doom, Dishonored 2, Battlecry, and much more.

Bethesda emphasizes quality over quantity or fast releases

While talking with the Telegraph, Bethesda's Pete Hines explains that the corporate culture inside the company emphasizes the quality of a game, over its rapid release or its immediate profits.

Hines exemplifies this with Bethesda's last big release, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which launched in 2011 and sold tens of millions of companies. According to the executive, given this success, rival publishers would have fast tracked the development of a "Skyrim 2" and released it one or two years after.

However, only now, four years later, is Bethesda ready to release its next title, in the form of Fallout 4.

"It’s rare to have franchises like the ones we have and to have people joking about "When is Skyrim 2 coming out?" The reason they say that is because generally speaking that’s what you’d be getting with another publisher in charge. They’d be spitting out a Skyrim 2 the year after or two years later. We do smaller stuff, we don’t publish to scale, we try to publish to quality. Make sure everything we do is noteworthy," Hines says.

As such, after Fallout 4's release on November 10, don't expect Bethesda to pump out new sequels anytime soon.
