The latest Steam Winter Sale is still in effect, and it will last until January 4. Let's take a look at what the Linux users have been buying these past few days.

The Steam for Linux catalog of discounted games is a huge one, but after so many days of sales, a few favorites have started to distance themselves from the pack. Some of them have been in this position before, but there are at least a couple of entries that are pretty interesting.

The top-selling games on Steam for Linux have been dominated by a few titles that are also in the top most played games on Steam, in any given day. It's not something that platform agnostic since these are really good games.

Top Sellers on Steam for Linux

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a driving sim that focuses on truck and precision driving. It's one of the first games that landed on Steam for Linux and it's still one of the community's favorite.

Borderlands 2 Game of the Year comes from 2K and Gearbox, and it's one of the biggest triple-A titles on Steam for Linux. As the name says, it comes with all the DLCs that have been released.

Terraria, a 2D adventure game developed and published by Re-Logic on Steam, lets users build, explore, and fight into a huge 2D world. It's been a while since this game reached a top for Linux users, so it's nice to see it return.

Cities: Skylines is a city sim that rivals and surpasses everything that's been done until now. It's now available with a massive 60% discount.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is a third-person action game from Monolith Productions that picked up pretty much all of the awards that it could get, and it has a Linux version.

Alien: Isolation is a survival FPS that places the players in the role of Amada Ripley, the daughter of Ellen Ripley from the Alien movies. All the DLCs are also discounted.

The Valve Complete Pack is just that, all the games that have been developed by Valve over the years, including expansion packs.

Football Manager 2016 is the most advanced football sim available right now, and it was just released a few months ago. The developers from SPORTS INTERACTIVE continued to support the Linux platform with this new edition.

A new entry in this list of top selling is the Steam Controller, which is obviously not a game. This is the controller developed and sold by Valve. If you want to know more about it, we have an in-depth review of it.

Garry's Mod is a physics sandbox title that's made by a studio that doesn't really like the Linux platform. Even so, it's been one of the bestselling games on Steam for Linux for ages.

Sid Meier's Civilization V: Complete Edition needs no introduction and is, simply put, the best Civilization game ever made.

Dying Light is a zombie survival game developed by the famous studio Techland, which also made the Dead Island series.

Rust is a first-person survival game that takes place in a persistent universe, which most of the time doesn't make any sense. It's still in Early Access, and there is no indication that it's coming out of that anytime soon.

ARK: Survival Evolved is also an MMO survival game, but it combines the regular game with dinosaurs, mostly because dinosaurs make everything better.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is the best-selling game on Steam for Linux, and it's the most played game on Steam, so it seems only fitting to take the first place.
