Focused Inbox will soon land on Windows 10 devices too

Microsoft’s Outlook app is currently one of the best, if not truly the best email client currently available on Android and iOS, and now it appears that the Redmond-based software giant is looking at these versions for new ways to improve the Windows 10 app.

On Windows 10 devices, the Outlook app is integrated into the operating system, and although it comes with a different look and feature lineup, it still offers excellent performance.

But soon, the Windows 10 Outlook app will get one of the best features available on Android and iOS, as Microsoft has confirmed that it’s working to bring Focused Inbox on both PCs and mobile phones.

In case you’re using the Outlook app on Android or iPhones and disabled the Focused Inbox, you’re pretty much missing the best this email client has to offer.

How Focused Inbox works

Using a pretty advanced system developed by Accompli, the company that actually built the email app that Outlook is based on and that Microsoft purchased last year, Focused Inbox can group your most important messages, leaving spam and automated emails behind.

“The system takes into account emails and contacts with whom you interact, and filters out noisy sources like automatically generated or bulk email. The more you use it, the better it gets. You can easily reclassify emails between Focused and Other,” Microsoft explains how Focused Inbox works.

Javier Soltero of Microsoft says that Focused Inbox will soon be “coming to all flavors of Outlook real soon,” hinting that the release is closer than we’d expect.

It’s not yet clear if insiders will be the first to get it or if the company plans to roll it out to everyone from the very beginning, but what we know for sure is that the feature will be here in the Anniversary Update due in July. Focused Inbox will thus work on both Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile and will be part of the default feature lineup.
