AV-TEST evaluates antivirus apps for Windows 10 corporate

While for Windows 10 consumers choosing the best antivirus isn’t such a big deal, pretty much because the same apps keep leading the charts every time, not the same thing can be said about enterprise customers, who must carefully check ratings for protection, performance, and usability.

This is where the German antivirus institute AV-TEST comes into play, as a recently conducted series of tests tried to determine which is the best security solution for customers running Windows 10 in the enterprise field.

And according to their findings, there’s just one security solution that managed to obtain the maximum number of points, namely Bitdefender, which also topped charts for the consumer versions of Windows 10.

Bitdefender got six points in all three tests for protection, performance, and usability, thus managing to beat other advanced security solutions developed by Kaspersky and Symantec. Kaspersky ranked second with a total of 17.5 points, followed by Symantec with the same number of points. AVG was fourth with 16.5 percent.

Kaspersky only lost 0.5 points in performance tests while Symantec did the same in the usability category. AVG, on the other hand, got 5.5 points for protection, 5 for performance, and 6 for usability.

How did Microsoft’s own solution perform?

As far as Microsoft is concerned, its own Windows security product performed quite well and obtained 14 points in AV-TEST’s latest round of antivirus tests.

Although it’s not exactly close to the score recorded by the leaders currently on the market, Windows Defender obtained decent scores, namely 3 points for protection, 5 points for performance, and 6 points for usability. Only one more security product was rewarded with 3 points for protection, and that’s Seqrite, the last in the charts.

In the end, it’s very clear that Bitdefender dominates the security market right now, at least as far as AV-TEST is concerned, as the same product got the first place in both consumer and enterprise tests. On the other hand, Windows Defender is improving, and although many consider it a rather basic solution, it still seems to be good enough to cope with the majority of today’s threats.
