Video game publisher Warner Bros. has already announced that gamers will be able to get access to the new Batgirl focused downloadable content for Batman: Arkham Knight, called A Matter of Family, will be launched on July 14 for those who have a Season Pass and one week later for the rest of the community.

But the company has not offered too many details about the actual story and the gameplay associated with the new character.

Batgirl: A Matter of Family is being created by the Montreal studio of the company and takes gamers to the Seagate Amusement Park, which is an entirely new location that includes a theme park built over an oil rig which the Joker has customized with deadly traps.

There the character will need to team up with Robin to make sure that her kidnapped father, Commissioner Gordon, is safe and can take part in the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Justin Vazquez, a design producer on the DLC, is quoted by Entertainment Weekly as saying that, "We wanted to recreate the feeling of being trapped in a bizarre and unique open environment playing a game of cat and mouse with the Joker."

Barbara Gordon is a new character to the series, and she is designed to incorporate her hacker personality and combine it with the pure brawn that the game has always emphasized.

Batgirl will offer more options to gamers

The hacking can be used to draw enemies into areas and to setup moments that even Batman would be unable to engineer because his approach to combat is designed to focus on violence and on terror and not on cleverly dealing with enemies without having to break any of their bones.

The dual combat system from Batman: Arkham Knight is incorporated in the DLC and the finale of A Matter of Family is designed to allow the player to control both Batgirl and Robin as they battle Joker and Harley Quinn.

The new content will also include some side quests, more collectibles and Easter Eggs that are designed to appeal to a large number of DC Comics fans.

At the moment, Warner Bros. is also promising that the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight will be offered for sale with big improvements in no more than a few weeks.
