We're now considering the upgrade, BOA official says

Bank of America has an interesting history as far as Microsoft's Windows platform is concerned, as the organization refused the upgrade to Windows 8 (choosing to stay on Windows 7), decided to remove its Windows Phone application from the store, but has promised to give the mobile platform a second look when Windows 10 Mobile goes live.

That won't happen until later this year, but because the PC version is out, Bank of America has started planning the upgrade from Windows 7, saying in an interview with InformationWeek that they are hoping to start the process as soon as possible.

BOA CTO David Reilly has explained that Windows 8 was never an option for his company, adding that they want their apps and services to work fully across all devices, including tablets and smartphones, so with Windows 10, the opportunity to adopt a single platform for everything is finally there.

"That's an opportunity we'd really like to take advantage of, if we can," he goes on to say.

Windows 10 Mobile could bring BOA official application

The Bank of America official hasn't commented on the possibility of bringing back its mobile banking app in the Windows Phone store after being removed several months ago, but it's believe that this thing could happen once Windows 10 Mobile goes live.

BOA is reportedly looking into ways to release a universal app on Windows 10 that would work across all devices, and its internal transition to the new operating system is the best way to determine its performance and make a decision on whether a new app should be released or not.

Windows 10 Mobile won't be here sooner than October, but BOA can already start working on its app to get ready for the grand debut and give its customers access to their accounts from any Windows device they might be using.

We've also reached out to Microsoft to find out whether it's working with BOA on such an app and will get back to you if an answer is provided.
