Samsung has just announced the availability of bada 1.2 SDK, the software development kit for the final version of its proprietary mobile operating system.

The bada 1.2 SDK provides developers with the necessary tools to create applications for Samsung's Wave series of smartphones: Wave, Wave 525, Wave 533, Wave 575, Wave 723 and Wave II.

All the new features introduced with bada SDK 1.2.0b1, the last beta version of the SDK launched in mid-November, have also been included in the final version.

Below are some of the major features introduced by the final version of the bada 1.2 SDK:

- HTML/JavaScript or Flash SWF can be native apps without C++ coding; - Conditional app launch: bada can launch an application at a specific time; bada can launch an application when the phone is connected by USB cable to a PC and a specific application is running on the PC; - Open GL/ES 1.1, 1.2 Extension (PowerVR); - Wi-Fi EAP support; - New UI Sequencer tool added; - Memory leak detector.

Samsung also added four new language packs, which can be installed separately after installing the bada SDK.

Currently, Samsung offers support for 46 languages, which were grouped in four language packs. Developers who are looking for a specific language can check out the language list from the bada SDK official website.

The full package of the bada SDK 1.2 has 1GB in size and includes the bada SDK installer and all four language packs.

It requires Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7 operating system, at least 1.4 GB of RAM memory, at least 1.8 GB of free disk space and local administrator rights.

As a side note, the bada simulator screen is 480 x 800 pixels, so if the screen resolution of the computer monitor is lower than 800 pixels in height, it will not display graphics normally when an application uses OpenGL.
