The developers of the Avidemux open-source video editor software for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows operating systems announced the availability of Avidemux 2.6.19, a new maintenance update that adds various improvements.

If you're wondering, there was no AviDemux 2.6.18 update released, and it looks like Avidemux 2.6.19 comes almost three months after the small 2.6.17 bugfix update that only allowed E-AC3 for MP4/MP4v2 streams and fixed a handful of bugs for the Preview component.

Avidemux 2.6.19 has a bunch of goodies for the fans of the open-source video editor designed for simple cutting, encoding, and filtering tasks. But before we dive into the changes implemented in this release, you should know that the application can now support the FFMpeg 3.0.7 multimedia backend.

What's new in Avidemux 2.6.19

Among the changes implemented in Avidemux 2.6.19, we can mention support for large files (rcdrone) for FLV demuxing, better HEVC support for TS demuxing, support for allowing E-AC3 as an external audio track, improved support for 10bits encoded video streams, and a revamped delogo filter UI.

Better navigation dialogs were added for all filters that have a preview, and the changeFps and resampleFps seeking has been fixed. Avidemux 2.6.19 also brings various improvements to the graphical user interface, improving general usability and updating various translations like Russian and Greek.

Specifically, the 2-pass encoding dialog was cleaned up a bit, it's now possible to use the last opened folder as the default folder for saving projects, and the menu can now be dynamically enabled or disabled. Moreover, the new release adds support for reverting page up and page down, and there's now customizable keyboard shortcut support.
