Open-source video editor Avidemux received a new maintenance update (version 2.6.14) the other day, September 17, 2016, and it is now available for all supported platforms, including GNU/Linux, Mac, and Windows.

Avidemux 2.6.14 is both a feature and bugfix release, coming exactly one month after the unveiling of the previous stable build, namely AviDemux 2.6.13. According to the release notes, the new version implements automatic check for new versions of the Qt interface (checks are performed once a day) and re-implements support for Windows XP (for those still using it) by adding support for the MXE cross-compiler.

Moreover, Avidemux 2.6.14 comes with support for the Lagarith lossless video codec, support for FLAC decoding by using the libavcodec library, better support for corrupted H.264 and TS video streams, improved release of resources for VDPAU (Video Decode and Presentation API for Unix), as well as support for a brand new EAC3 identifier for TS streams, such as DVB-T ones.

All libavcodec-based encoders should work properly now

Another interesting change implemented in the Avidemux 2.6.14 stable release is that all the libavcodec-based encoders should work properly now, as the development team implemented various fixes. Additionally, there's better "Copy Mode" support in the editor for audio streams, and loading of images has been updated in the demuxer to support more JPEG formats. And it looks like the DMG installer for Mac systems works much better now.

Last but not least, Avidemux 2.6.14 makes more of its features and components translatable in different languages and improves support for the French, Danish, Brazilian Portuguese, German, and Hungarian translations.
