14 DAY TRIAL // Avast Software, one of the leaders in mobile and PC security solutions, has just released an Android application that will allow users to find fast and secure Wi-Fi connections while on the move.
The app is called Wi-Fi Finder and is the result of a product crowdsourcing program that allowed Avast Mobile Security users to help the security company gather data on nearby Wi-Fi spots.
According to developers, they have been able to collect Wi-Fi hotspot data from volunteers and evaluated each hotspot's security level before releasing Wi-Fi Finder.
With Wi-Fi Finder application users will be able to connect to the fastest, most secure hotspots, Avast claims. The list of Wi-Fi hotspot that you will find using the Android application is recommended and crowdsourced by nearby users, but it's up to you to choose which one to use.
Also, another useful feature included in the application is the fact that you will be able to access public Wi-Fi protected by passwords without asking for it.
Avast's application users have already saved the password before, so it shouldn't ask you for one. Naturally, this feature won't be available for every password-protected Wi-Fi hotspot.

Last but not least, you will be able to see how fast each network really is before you decide whether or not to connect to it.
“Many of us have found ourselves in situations when traveling or working remotely in which we’re unable to find reliable and secure Wi-Fi.
“With the Avast Wi-Fi Finder, consumers are now able to find a safe and fast Wi-Fi connection whether you’re at the gym, hotel, airport, bus station, library or café,” said Gagan Singh, president of mobile at Avast.
You can now download Wi-Fi Finder for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0.3 and up.
