Windows 10 Mobile is expected to debut in approximately a month and a half, and not only Microsoft and its users are very keen to see it on the market, but also software developers who this time seem to notice the opportunity to capitalize on the growing interest in the platform a lot sooner.

AVAST Software, the maker of one of the most popular freeware antivirus solutions on the market, has expressed its intention to develop a security app for Windows 10 Mobile that’s supposed to run on any device powered by the upcoming operating system.

Only little is known at this point about the upcoming app, but in an interview with Tecmundo (via WMPU), Ondrej Vlcek, Chief Operations at Avast, has confirmed that an app specifically developed for Windows 10 Mobile is in the works and planned to launch in early 2016. No specific dates have been provided, but the app should be here only a few months after the debut of the OS.

To block malicious apps in the store

The main purpose of AVAST’s upcoming app will be to block apps that are published in the store and that are trying to capitalize on the popularity of famous software.

It’s not a secret that, on Windows 8 and Windows Phone, there were plenty of apps that were using names of other popular programs and that were available with small fees such as $1 or $2. Microsoft needed quite a lot of time to take action and remove this from the store, so in Windows 10 Mobile, AVAST’s software will be there to help block any such malicious apps until the company deletes them.

Windows 10 Mobile is projected to launch in December for Windows Phone devices, but since it’ll be a staggering release, it could take more than a month until everyone gets it.
