The second public beta for avast! 8 product line has been rolled out and includes a set of repairs that bring it closer to a stable release.

The big news for this revision is that it runs on Windows 8. The developer worked on eliminating the performance trouble on Windows XP and to fix the Automatic Detection problems in the firewall, on Windows 7.

The list of repairs also includes the stability issues with the Outlook plugin. Furthermore, there should no longer be problems with the data shredder option utility.

Additional improvements touch on the user interface, which do not hang anymore when connecting to the Avast! account.

According to the development team, you should be able to install the new release over the previous one without losing your settings.
