The stable version for avast! 7 is getting closer to a release as the public beta milestone has been reached by the developer. The new build introduces a set of features, UI changes and support for Windows 8.

Apart from the new installer and the new looks, Avast! 7 also brings to the table cloud-based FileRep (file reputation) service and remote assistance feature. The latter comes in handy when you want to help your friends with computer troubles; avast! needs to be installed on both stations.

Although there are no particular details, sandboxing has been bettered in this release, for both Sandbox and AutoSandbox components. Browser protection also benefited from improvements.

However, despite all the improvements available, issues are still to be fixed, affecting components like WebRep Chrome, Safezone browser or remote assistant feature, which may crash on Windows 7 32-bit and Vista 64-bit.

The new version is available for the entire suite, which includes the free version (reviewed here), Pro and Internet Security.
