Atari has just revealed the Atari Vault, a new collection of 100 famous games that have been released over time by the famous publisher.

Atari is responsible for some of the most easily recognizable games that have been made in the past few decades, but most of them no longer work with modern operating systems. Since we live in an era where melancholy is a powerful commodity, Atari figured out that they could revive the golden days of gaming and make some money in the meantime.

The collection will gather 100 games that have been either developed or published by Atari, and for now, we only know that they will include at least Asteroids, Centipede, Missile Command, Tempest, and Warlords. Since all of these are really old, we can surmise that the rest up to 100 will cover the entire history of the company.

Atari Vault is not just about making old games run on new operating systems. The developers want to also add some new features like local multiplayer options, Steam Leaderboards, Steam Controller support, and much more.

“Atari Vault bundles the publisher's most beloved classic games into a single PC title, with new features and multiplayer capabilities. For the first time ever, fans from around the world can challenge other players on Steam Leaderboards and compete for arcade supremacy - all while rocking out to the games' original 70's and 80's soundtracks. Atari Vault is under development by Code Mystics, and will launch in spring 2016,” the company explains.

It’s not difficult to imagine what games are going to be released in the Atari Vault collection, but it will be interesting to see how they are going to do it. They could either try to go native, or they will use some kind of emulator solution. Either way, 2016 already looks great.
