Asus recently released its high-end Zenfone 2 smartphone, one of the few coming with 4GB of RAM right out of the box.

The Taiwanese company is determined to gain several points of market share in North America and what better way to do that than by launching a solid high-end smartphone and pricing it lower than expected.

But Asus is also specialized in making decent affordable Android smartphones, and customers in the United States can have a taste of that thanks to the recently launched Zenfone 2E.

Unlike its beefy brother that competes with some of the most popular flagship smartphones, the Zenfone 2E is a mid- to low-range Android handset.

Major carrier AT&T announced that it would offer the Asus Zenfone 2E via GoPhone for just $119 outright. The pre-paid handset will be available for purchase in both black and white beginning July 24.

Best Buy will sell it starting August 2, too

Furthermore, the Zenfone 2E will be available at Best Buy from August 2, but word about its price tag at major retailer's locations has yet to emerge.

Moving on to specs, Asus Zenfone 2E ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system right out of the box. Moreover, the smartphone is equipped with a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Z2560 processor, which is complemented by 1GB RAM.

On the inside, the Zenfone 2E packs only 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

On the back, Asus' affordable smartphone features an 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls and selfie.

Connectivity-wise, Zenfone 2E offers LTE support, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0 and 3.5mm audio jack. It's also worth mentioning that the smartphone is powered by a 2,200 mAh battery and sports a 5-inch HD (720p) display.
