ASUS announced that it started rolling out the Android Nougat update to users of ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 tablets, finally allowing them to enjoy Google's latest mobile operating system.

The latest firmware, versioned 14.0210.1706.20, is now available for ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 (Z500M), and it looks like it brings some neat new features and improvements like the brand-new Unicode 9.0 emoji and skin tone, which are accessible via the ZenUI keyboard, and multi-window support (tap and hold Recent Apps key to activate).

The Android N update is a major one and it also adds a new "Game Genie" app, support for multiple pages in Quick Settings, allowing users to swipe left or right to see the settings if they have more than 12 tabs opened, and a bundled notifications switch that can be accessed in Settings -> Notification -> Configure Notifications.

"When multiple notifications for a single app are received, they can be bundled together into a single group. This group can be expanded to see [each of] the individual messages," reads the release notes that ASUS published on the ASUS ZenTalk forum.

Lock screen wallpaper slideshow, support for grouped notifications

Apart from the goodies mentioned above, ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 users also received a lock screen wallpaper slideshow feature that will change the wallpaper every time they wake up their devices, as well as support for grouping notifications from a single app, which they can expand to view individual messages.

If you're using Easy mode, please note that a Launcher app menu will be displayed on the screen after upgrading from Android M to Android N on your ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 tablet, so make sure that you select your default launcher again after applying the update.

Keep in mind that some things are not compatible with Android N and they've been removed. These include the "Audio Wizard," "System update," and "Splendid" app shortcuts, the "Tap and hold to show menu" setting from Settings -> ASUS customized settings -> Touch key, which was replaced with "Tap and hold to activate Multi-window."

Also removed is the "PC Suite" (CD-ROM) and the pre-installed Phase Beam, Holo Spiral, Black Hole, and Bubbles live wallpapers as they are also not compatible with Android Nougat. ASUS recommends all ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 users to update to firmware version 14.0210.1706.20 at their earliest convenience.
