14 DAY TRIAL // Word about another ZenFone 3 smartphone popped up online last week when a device with model number Asus_Z01HDA was spotted at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission.
Today, the same device was listed at FCC (Federal Communications Commission), which is why we believe Asus might bring the so-called ZenFone 3 Zoom in the United States.
FCC is the regulatory commission that certifies new smartphones for use in the US, and since the ZenFone 3 Zoom received its certification, it's probably just a matter of time before the device goes official.
Speaking of which, chances are Asus will introduce the ZenFone 3 Zoom next year at Consumer Electronics Show 2017 (CES), which is set to kick off in early January. It remains to be seen when and where the smartphone will be launched.
Although we don't know anything about the phone's price, we do know quite a bit about the hardware inside. Also, Asus published some photos of the ZenFone 3 Zoom when it enlisted the phone at FCC, so we have a pretty good idea of what the phone will look like.
RGB + monochrome camera modules?
The ZenFone 3 Zoom will be Asus' first smartphone to pack a dual-camera setup on the back, which consists of at least one 16-megapixel lens, which could feature 2x optical zoom. The second lens could be monochrome and with a slightly lower number of megapixels.
Furthermore, Asus' smartphone will sport a 5.5-inch AMOLED display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution, while on the inside it should pack an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor.
There will be at least a couple of ZenFone 3 Zoom versions launched on the market based on the amount of memory. The cheaper one will include 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage, but others will pack 3GB or 4GB RAM, along with 32GB or 64GB internal memory.
Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom will be powered by a large 4,850 mAh battery and it's likely to ship with the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box.
