Mass production should start at the beginning of July

Zenfone smartphones are among the most popular Android devices available on the market, so Asus must be very pleased with their achievement. Since Zenfone 2 models hit shelves, Asus has been trying to offer many variations of the smartphone, some with better cameras, others with more powerful CPUs or mode storage inside.

Still, it comes a time when the only thing that you can do to refresh a popular series is to launch another iteration of the base model. Basically, this means that, in order to boost Zenfone sales, Asus must introduce a third sequel.

The good news is that might happen sooner than we have expected, at least according to Taiwanese media. Asus Zenfone 3 will be announced at the end of June, but mass production won’t start until July, which means that the handset won’t be available for purchase until later this summer, new report claims.

Asus official hints at new flagship device this summer

The information was confirmed by Nick Wu, Director of Finance, Asus, who said recently that his company hopes to launch a new flagship smartphone soon: “We hope to introduce a new flagship smartphone at the end of June and start producing mass in July.”

Unfortunately, no additional details on the Zenfone 3’s specs are available at the moment, but since the smartphone has been tipped for a June announcement, we expect more information to leak online in the next couple of weeks.

In the same piece of news, Asus officials confirmed they would continue to focus on emerging markets in Asia, including India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Naturally, the company’s flagship smartphone will be rolled out globally, but these countries will probably be among the first to get the Zenfone 3. Also, customers in this region should expect some aggressive pricing for the upcoming Asus handsets.
