ASUS released the ZenPad Z8 tablet for Verizon back in May, and it seems that the company has unveiled a new device in the series today. What's interesting is that the new ZenPad 3 8.0 is similar to the ZenPad Z8 in some aspects, like display size and processor power.

The newly unveiled ASUS ZenPad 3 8.0 sports a 7.9-inch LCD display with 1536 x 2048 pixel resolution. The screen size and resolution are the same as on the ZenPad Z8, but the latter offers just 2GB of RAM while the ZenPad 3 8.0 comes in two variants, with different RAM and internal storage capacity.

The first variant has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory while the second has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Users who want more storage can use a 128GB microSD card.

In addition, the ZenPad 3 8.0 packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC with a hexa-core 1.8GHz CPU and the Adreno 510 graphics processing unit, the same as the tablet released for Verizon in May.

Rear camera capacity reaches 8MP with 1080p video recording while a 2MP selfie snapper is also there. ZenPad 3 8.0 draws power from a 4,680mAh battery, which ASUS says should last for 11 hours, depending on the tasks performed on the tablet.

Other than that, the tablet comes with USB Type-C port and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. In addition, it features Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 3G and 4G LTE support. The device measures 136.4 x 205.4 x 7.57 mm and weighs 320 grams. It's available in just a black color variant while details on pricing and availability haven't been disclosed yet.

ASUS ZenPad Z8 was revealed in May and went on sale starting June 23 at Verizon Wireless for the price of $149.99 (€133) on a two-year contract and $249.99 (€221). The ZenPad 3 8.0 should carry a similar price, considering that the two devices share some specs.
