The glory days of PCs are mostly in the past now. As most analysts believe, the current worldwide PC market is at an all-time low, with sales dwindling, and with a very limited hope of revival in the next two years.

This, however, didn't stop major desktop manufacturers from pushing onwards with their innovation and sell powerful systems that will allow gamers play their favorite games on the highest settings as possible. In this regard, ASUS launched its newest gaming rig, part of the Republic of Gamers brand, the ROG G11 gaming desktop.

Powered by a 6th-generation Intel Core i7 Skylake processor and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 graphics card, it provides top-notch gaming performance even if it's not equipped with the most bleeding edge of system components. The system also features an M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 solid-state drive (SSD), DDR4 memory, and 10Gbit/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 for high-speed data access.

Powerful and impressive, it should be somewhat affordable as well

The G11 has its precious components wrapped in a futuristic chassis design, and features Mayan-inspired markings and 8-million-color LED effects. In our recent Skylake Performer review, we emphasized the incredible power a Skylake system can provide when playing games. Its single-threading performance being 20% more advanced than the previous Haswell, the graphics card will have ample headroom to render the latest games at the highest settings and most demanding resolutions available.

The M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD, on the other hand, offers access speeds of up to 2 Gbit/s - four times faster than SATA SSDs - offering a very obvious shortening of load times during system boot and when starting games. DDR4 SDRAM provides speeds of up to 2.1 GT/s - twice that of DDR3 - for highly stable performance. DDR4 is also more efficient than DDR3, requiring just 1.2V, so users enjoy up to 20% in energy savings. There's even 10 Gbit/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 for double the data transfer rates of USB 3.0.

Unfortunately, ASUS did not disclose the new ROG G11 Gaming Desktop price or date availability.
