Many of Asus' most successful smartphones in the Zenfone family are available worldwide. However, there aren't many Pegasus series smartphones available outside China.

The latest addition to Asus' portfolio of mid-range handsets is the Pegasus X005, fonearena reports. Asus Pegasus X005 hasn't been officially unveiled, but it's been certified at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, so we expect it to make it to shelves in the next couple of weeks.

The Pegasus X005 is aimed at the Chinese market, just like the previous device in the family like Pegasus 2 Plus X550 and Pegasus X003.

Although we don't rule out the possibly of making the Pegasus X005 available in other countries as well, we doubt that will happen anytime soon.

Asus Pegasus X005 will be available for purchase in China in three color options: Blue, Gold, and White. Unfortunately, there's no word on availability and pricing yet.

Decent specs, so let's hope for a good price too

Moving on to specs, the Pegasus X005 is a pure mid-range smartphone that ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, along with Zen UI on top of it.

At the core, Asus Pegasus X005 packs a 64-bit 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek M6753 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

Asus' mid-range Android smartphone sports a large 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution). There's no mention of any protection, so we must assume it doesn't come with Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

At the back, the Pegasus X005 packs a 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording while in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Asus Pegasus X005 offers both 4G LTE and dual-SIM support, but also other connectivity options like 3GB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS.
