14 DAY TRIAL // Asus announced two smartphones during CES 2017, the ZenFone AR and the ZenFone 3 Zoom, the latter of which has enhanced photography skills. But it seems that the company has unveiled yet another smartphone, this one for the Chinese market.
The ZenFone Pegasus 3S is the successor to last year’s ZenFone Pegasus 3 with an all-metal body, announced for the market in China. The new smartphone is set to be an upgrade to its mid-range predecessor and it even has some design changes, according to a report.
It comes with a fused antenna band design similar to the one found on the iPhone 7 and the all-metal body of its predecessor. However, the Pegasus 3S has a front fingerprint scanner embedded under the physical home button, as opposed to the fingerprint scanner located on the back of the Pegasus 3. The scanner was optimized to spot up to 5 different fingerprints and it even supports payment operations.

Moving on to specs, the ZenFone Pegasus 3S has a 5.2-inch IPS HD display with 2.5D glass cover on top and very thin bezels, and ensures a high screen-to-body ratio. It runs an octa-core 64-bit MediatTek MT6750 processor, which is similar to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 652 chipset.
The phone also comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There is also another variant with 64GB of memory, which can be expanded to 2TB using a microSD card. One of the phone’s main selling points is the powerful 5,000mAh battery with 5V/2A fast charge and five smart power saving modes. Asus says that the battery is capable of powering the phone for 30 days in standby mode or offer 48 hours of intense use.
The ZenFone Pegasus 3S has a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and phase detection auto focus. It also has an 8MP front camera and PixelMaster technology, similar to the one found on the ZenFone 3 Zoom.
The smartphone supports dual SIM, as well as Wi-Fi, VoLTE and 4G speeds. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and carries a price tag of about $288 for the 64GB memory version. The phone will go on sale starting this month.
