As we were telling you in a previous piece, ASUS is hosting the ZenFestival in Delhi, India, and on this occasion the handset maker is launching two new smartphone models, arriving in the wild as the Zenfone 2 Deluxe and Zenfone 2 Laser, both as variations of the Zenfone 2 flagship which was announced back at CES 2015 in January.

So let’s take each new model and see what they bring to the table in terms of design and specifications.

Zenfone 2 Deluxe

This model is a prettied-up version of the original Zenfone 2. It comes with an atypical “premium-crafted polygonal design,” meaning that its back is made of 500+ triangles joined together for a “crystal miracle.”

ASUS offers the Zenfone 2 Deluxe with a 5.5-inch display with 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixel) resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 on top. Under the hood, users have the option of choosing between an Intel Atom Z3560 chipset and an Intel Atom Z3580 chipset with 4GB of RAM. The original Zenfone 2 paired the Intel Z3560 processor with 3GB of RAM instead.

There’s another improvement that should be taken into account. The storage options have been diversified, so now you can go home with a 128GB model, too. Moreover, you can add another 128GB via a microSD card slot.

The phone features a 13MP main camera, plus a 5MP one for selfies. It is sustained by a 3,000 mAh battery with BoostMaster for rapid charging, allowing you to juice up the phone up to 60% in 39 minutes. Android 5.0 Lollipop is the default operating system on board.

Zenfone 2 Laser

The Zenfone 2 Laser features a 5-inch display with 720p res. As the name indicates, the phone’s focus is on photography. The main camera is of the 13MP variety and can be extended up to 52MP thanks to Super Resolution mode.

As you would expect, we have Laser autofocus on board. So the main camera features 5 lenses and f/2.0 aperture, while the 5MP selfie camera (up from 2MP) has a wide-angle 85° lens with f/2.0 aperture.

ASUS promises that the autofocus system can provide focus locks in 0.3s and works even for macros. Moreover, there’s a Super HDR mode that should come in handy while shooting in bright light and low-light mode for “4x light sensitivity and noise reduction.”

As for internal specifications, the Zenfone 2 Laser holds on to a Snapdragon 410 chipset in combination with 2GB of RAM and either 8GB or 16GB of internal storage (which is also expandable). The battery juicing up the phone is of the 2,070 mAh or 2,400 mAh variety.

Just like the other Zenfone 2 launched today, the Laser operates on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and has LTE connectivity.

No word on pricing specifications from ASUS for the time being.
