14 DAY TRIAL // ASUS announced at CES 2017 in Las Vegas the so-called Pro B9440, which is the company’s latest laptop coming with premium design and powerful hardware.
First and foremost, what sets this laptop apart from the rest of the laptops is that it’s essentially the lightest notebook in the world, and ASUS has really made a big deal about this during today’s unveiling.
The device has a weight of 2.3 pounds (1.04 kg), and when looking at the 14-inch screen size with super-small bezels, it’s pretty clear that it’s indeed one of the lightest laptops currently available on the market.
Specifically aimed at the business industry, the Pro B9440 is essentially so light mostly because it’s made of magnesium alloy, which is lighter and more durable, with ASUS trying and managing to fit the 14-inch display into the case of a 13-inch laptop.
Hardware specs
In terms of hardware, the laptop comes with pretty much the best you can find right now, although there’s still room for improvements. For example, the laptop features the recently-introduced Intel Core i5 and i5 processors (7th generation), up to 16GB RAM (32GB would have been so much better, especially if it were optional), and a maximum of 512GB SSD storage.
The 14-inch full HD display should be enough for enjoying the best of Windows 10, Asus says, although there are critics out there who would have picked a 4K display.
And last but not least, the laptop comes with a redesigned keyboard that features only 1.5mm of key travel, but also with USB 2.0 and Type-C ports for connectivity purposes.
If we are to trust the figures provided by Asus, the laptop should provide up to 10 hours of battery life, but you should obviously expect less especially if you run demanding apps.
The new business-oriented laptop will go on sale in May, with pricing to start at $999 for the entry-level configuration.
