14 DAY TRIAL // ASUS took the wraps off a new series of Windows 10 devices today at Computex, including an all-new ZenBook 3 Deluxe that comes to compete against premium laptops on the market, such as Microsoft’s Surface Laptop and Apple’s MacBook.
First and foremost, it’s worth noting that ASUS focused specifically on the portability of the device, so it weighs only 1.1 kilograms, which is impressive to say the least for a device that boasts a 14-inch display.
Furthermore, ASUS attempted to reduce bezels as much as possible, and just like Dell on the XPS line, the company managed to fit a bigger screen into the chassis of a smaller laptop, just by working on the overall size of the case.
The ZenBook 3 Deluxe, for example, houses a 14-inch NanoEdge ultra-narrow-bezel display in the chassis of a 13-inch laptop, again with extra points for portability.
Hardware specs
As far as hardware goes, the laptop will be available in several configurations, but the top-of-the-line will run on an Intel 7th generation i7 processor paired with 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM. For storage, customers who go for the top model will get 1TB of SSD storage.
As compared to the Surface Laptop, which doesn’t feature any USB-C ports because Microsoft thinks they’re not ready for prime time just yet, ASUS installed two of them, both Thunderbolt 3-enabled and offering support for 40 Gbps data transfers, dual 4K UDH external displays and power delivery.
Since it runs Windows 10, the ZenBook 3 Deluxe comes with hardware to make the most of the OS, including a fingerprint sensor that can be configured with Windows Hello for quick authentication.
Projected to hit the shelves this summer, the ZenBook 3 Deluxe won’t come cheap, with ASUS saying that the most affordable version will cost $1,199. There’s no word on the price tag of the top configuration, but it might get close to $2,000 given the aforementioned specs.
