Asus is now among the first handset makers that confirm they will bring some of their products to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the not-so-distant future.

Google, HTC, Motorola, OnePlus and a few other companies have already informed its customers about Marshmallow upgrades, but Samsung and LG have yet to make any announcements.

Although LG confirmed the G4 would be the first smartphone to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow, it did not mention other devices eligible for the upgrade.

Today, Asus announced that some of its Zenfone 2 series smartphones would be getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates in the coming months.

The first on the list is Asus Zenfone 2 (ZE550ML / ZE551ML), followed by Zenfone 2 Deluxe / Special Edition (ZE551ML).

Next in line are Zenfone 2 Laser (ZE550KG / ZE500KL / ZE550KL / ZE600KL / ZE601KL) and Zenfone Selfie (ZE551KL).

Only five smartphones are confirmed to receive the update

If you own another version of the smartphones mentioned earlier, or a completely different model, then you will have to wait for Asus to announce other eligible devices for Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates.

It's also worth mentioning that on the rather short list of devices to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates Asus also added the Padfone S (PF500KL).

As many of you have probably noticed by now, there are no Zenfone 5 models included in the list of eligible devices for the Marshmallow upgrade.

Also, there is no ETA for the delivery of these Marshmallow upgrades, but Asus stated that customers should stay tuned for ZenTalk for the latest update on rollout timing.

We sincerely hope that Asus' Marshmallow plans include more than just those Zenfone 2 series devices mentioned earlier since the Taiwanese company launched a lot more good devices this year.

There are several Zenfone 5 series smartphones available on the market that haven't been confirmed to get Marshmallow, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
