Expect easier entry into buildings via windows

Assassin's Creed Syndicate developer Ubisoft Quebec has worked hard to improve on the climbing system seen in last year's Unity so that players won't stick to objects they don't want. As such, fans of the series shouldn't expect to see the same problematic mechanics encountered in the last game.

Assassin's Creed Unity launched last fall and delivered quite a lot of all-new mechanics to Ubisoft's long-running action-adventure series. From a new engine to new exploration, stealth, or combat, the title was set to innovate but not all the new things worked exactly as intended, causing frustration for fans.

After emphasizing that it improves on many problematic aspects of Unity, Ubisoft Quebec, the studio behind the upcoming Assassin's Creed Syndicate, mentions that climbing is one key area where enhancements were made.

Climbing buildings is much easier in Syndicate

Unity's new climbing system not only boasted more realistic behavior but also allowed fans to get inside buildings by reaching windows. Unfortunately, players often got stuck to certain elements of the building, instead of entering through the window.

For Syndicate, Creative Director Marc-Alexis Cote confirms to Resero, via VG247, that windows are much easier to get into, while the whole climbing system is going to be less prone to gluing players to certain objects.

"In terms of navigation, we’ve improved the entry into window, which was something players were complaining about last year," he explains. "We really took that to heart, tried to find solutions to make it better and make the navigation more fluid over all, so that players would stick less on objects that they don’t want to, [and it would be] much more driven by where the player wants to go."

Assassin's Creed Syndicate has already gotten quite a few gameplay videos in recent months, and more are expected to appear until the game launches this October for PS4 and Xbox One, and later in the fall for PC.
