The Ariana Grande DonutGate is still underway, but she’s yet to be held accountable by the law for licking donuts on display in a California shop. The shop, on the other hand, has been slapped by the health department and lost one letter grade.

The controversy began the other day, when surveillance footage from inside Wolfee Donuts in Lake Elsinore, California, was released online, showing Ariana and a male friend / supposed boyfriend daring each other to put their tongue on the donuts on display and carrying out the dare.

You can see it below.

The donuts shouldn’t have been on the counter

The Riverside County Department of Public Health and the police launched an investigation into the incident within hours of the video popping up online. At first, it was believed that it was Ariana who was being investigated for deliberately licking items that she did not pay for, meant to be sold later to other patrons.

The shop was the one under investigation, it was later revealed. The donuts should not have been on the counter in the first place, but behind the glass, where no patron with inclinations like Ariana’s could touch them.

The case was closed when the shop owner told the health department that they usually didn’t have items on the counter. It happened on this particular occasion because the donut server had left them there to bring Ariana’s order.

Still, The Hollywood Reporter informs, the health department docked one letter grade for the shop, which went from an A to a B.

Ariana spit on the donuts as well

Embedded below is also a video report in which the shop owner claims that Ariana’s rudeness went beyond what is seen on the surveillance footage.

She didn’t just lick 2 donuts, she also spit on 2 more, also on a dare with her rumored boyfriend. And yes, all these 4 donuts were later sold to unsuspecting customers, he says.

For her part, Ariana has apologized for her behavior and her nasty words - not to the shop owner or the staff, but to her fans, who lashed out at her on social media.
