French company Archos has just announced the upcoming availability of another mid-range Android smartphone, the Diamond S.

Archos Diamond S will be available for purchase beginning November for only £160 (€215 / $225) outright, which is a great deal considering the specs inside.

The smartphone ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, even though Google will have probably released Android 6.0 Marshmallow by the time Diamond S goes on sale later this year.

Anyway, according to Archos, Diamond S sports a 5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

When it comes to hardware, Archos' mid-range Android smartphone is equipped with a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, a Mali-T720MP3 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

The Diamond S will be showcased this week at IFA 2015

Also, the smartphone packs 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

Archos Diamond S offers dual-SIM with Dual Active support, as well as 4G LTE connectivity. Other options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with AGPS support, microUSB 2.0 and Radio FM.

The smartphone has been confirmed to feature a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary no less impressive 8-megapixel camera for great selfies and video calls.

The Diamond S will be powered by a 2,300 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer. It measures 152.6 x 76.4 x 8.4mm and weighs only 118g (battery included).

“There is an enormous demand for superlative smartphones like the ARCHOS Diamond S at prices that the average person can afford. We’re happy to be releasing this product that furthers the mission of technical quality for everyone,” said Loic Poirier, CEO of ARCHOS.
