It's only been a few days since French company Archos announced its Diamond S mid-range Android smartphone and the handset maker is now back with yet another device.

The new Diamond Plus smartphone will be available for purchase in Europe beginning November. Customers will be able to pick this one up for just £180 (€250 / $275), which is a good deal considering its specs.

Speaking of which, Archos included a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor inside, which is complemented by a Mali-T720MP3 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

Also, the Diamond Plus comes with 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

Archos Diamond Plus belongs to the phablet category since it sports a large 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. There's no mention of Corning Gorilla Glass coating, so we must assume it lacks this type of protection.

Big screen, 4G LTE connectivity and dual-SIM support

On the back, the smartphone packs a 16-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

The Diamond Plus is powered by a 2,800 mAh battery and offers both dual-SIM and 4G LTE support. Other connectivity options available to users include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS support.

Last but not least, Archos Diamond Plus will ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box. The French company also confirmed the smartphone measures 152.6 x 76.4 x 8.4mm and weighs around 178g (battery included).

“There’s no reason customers should have only one model option in our quest to offer 4G/LTE smartphones to a greater public. Offering a larger-screened product with a slightly different design gives ARCHOS customers more diversity and choice,” says Loic Poirier, CEO of ARCHOS.
