We've been informed by the developers of the Apricity OS GNU/Linux distribution about the release and general availability for download of a new Beta release for the month of December 2015.

Softpedia was one of the first websites to introduce the Apricity OS Linux operating system, which is based on the lightweight and rolling-release Arch Linux distro, a few months ago. Since then, it looks like Apricity OS has gained more and more users, mostly thanks to its modern design, flexibility, and the powerful collection of pre-installed applications. The new Beta build is here to introduce even more new features, making Apricity OS even more coveted.

"We’re very happy to announce the release of Apricity OS 12.2015 Beta, just in time for the holidays," said the Apricity OS devs. "With this release, we’ve fixed several bugs relating to package management, and have included a preconfigured Vim with the system. Additionally, we’ve upgraded Calamares, the installer, to version 2.0 Beta2, the latest relatively stable version. As always, we hope you’ll enjoy this release."

KDE edition delayed, Xfce edition might become reality

According to the Apricity OS developers, the 12.2015 Beta release of the GNU/Linux operating system is here to mostly fix the bugs reported by users since the previous Beta build, most of them being related to the default package manager. It also adds a pre-configured Vim installation, upgrades the Calamares graphical installer to version 2.0 Beta 2, and updates most of the core components and apps.

Last month, the Apricity OS devs promised us a KDE edition, but it looks like things are not yet ready and that the flavor might be delayed until January 2016. In the meantime, users are being asked if they want to have an Xfce edition of the operating system, so drop a comment below and we'll make sure that the devs know your opinion on the matter. Until then, you can download Apricity OS 12.2015 Beta right now from Softpedia.
