The second-generation Apple Watch is already in the works, but contrary to what people expected, its debut won’t take place in March, but in the fall, together with the iPhone 7.

At least, that’s what a new report from 9to5mac claims, citing people close to the matter and revealing that Apple is indeed planning to share some news about the Watch at a March event, but it won’t be the new model.

The report shows that the March press conference, which is very likely to witness the debut of the iPhone 5se, will be used by Apple to introduce new bands, possibly designed with other premium partners across the world. The company did the same at its September event, when it unveiled the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, introducing the Hermes edition of Apple Watch, so similar news is likely to come in March too.

“Full redesign” coming in September

Furthermore, Apple could release WatchOS 2.2, which is currently available in beta and brings a series of new features, such as the possibility of syncing more than just a Watch with a specific iPhone. The report adds that Apple is also preparing more features for this version, but it’s not yet known what these improvements will be.

As far as the second-generation Apple Watch is concerned, rumor has it that the device could see daylight in the fall as part of a September event. This means the new model will most likely be launched together with the iPhone 7, which is also expected to debut in the fall.

Details regarding the new model are not available just yet, but people with knowledge of the matter described the second-generation Watch as “a full redesign,” adding that the company was planning to introduce a bigger battery and new sensors.

As you can see, there are a lot of uncertain things right now, but more information should emerge as we get closer to the rumored March event prepared by Apple.
