British buyers reporting LTE issues on EE

The Apple Watch Series 3, often referred to Apple Watch 3, comes with LTE support that allows the device to start and answer calls without the need for an iPhone, but while customers expect flawless out-of-the-box experience, it turns out that those in the United Kingdom are getting exactly the opposite.

The new Apple Watch is available in the UK with LTE connectivity via EE, but the first buyers discovered that activating this feature takes more than a couple of hours, and what’s worse, it fails to complete in several cases.

The British carrier says it’s already aware of reports – and that’s not at all surprising given that tens of customers have already posted complaints on the support forums – and recommends those struggle to configure the Apple Watch to simply reach in an ask for assistance.

Just wait for the activation to complete

EE explains that what customers should check before contacting support is the activation status in the companion Apple Watch app on the iPhone. To do this, simply launch the Apple Watch app, head over to Mobile Data and look for the activation status. If the “Activating” tag is still being displayed, EE says that your best option is to wait because the process can take up to 2 hours.

On the other hand, if for some reason the process fails with an error live activation failed, error 019, error 007, or this account is not ready to use with Apple Watch, you should call for support and have the company address the problem on its side, in most cases with an eSIM reset.

Additionally, customers who posted on the support forums explain that sometime unpairing the Watch from the iPhone, turning it off, repairing the device, and then selecting the data plan is required to get the whole thing working.

For the time being, this appears to be a problem limited to the United Kingdom, but we’ll be keeping an eye out on reports to see if others are hitting the same issues and let you know should a more convenient workaround be discovered.
