Apple is likely to take the wraps off the new iPhone in September this year, but it appears that the company might prepare some other goodies for its customers in the fall.

A report from Digitimes claims that the second-generation Apple Watch could also see daylight in September, and the chances are that Cupertino plans to unveil both new devices during the same press conference.

Before anything, it’s worth mentioning that Digitimes doesn’t have a clear record of reports regarding unreleased Apple products, so there’s a big chance that this new information isn’t completely accurate. For what it’s worth, the Apple Watch 2 could also be introduced in spring 2017, as the company might not want to steal the new iPhone’s thunder by unveiling the second-generation Watch during the same event.

The iPhone is Apple’s most important product, so keeping all the attention for this device is critical to its future, hence the launch of the Watch during the same event might not be the best idea.

What’s new on the Apple Watch 2?

As far as the second-generation Watch is concerned, leaks in this regard have been very limited, and nobody can tell for sure what the improvements coming to the device are.

People with knowledge of the matter have hinted that Apple is considering adding a GPS module that would allow the Watch 2 to work independently of an iPhone for activity tracking, similar to Microsoft Band and Samsung Gear Fit 2. Additionally, the new Watch could also get LTE data support, a more accurate heart rate sensor, longer battery life, and a slightly improved design, although it’ll look mostly the same with the current model.

It remains to be seen when this new Watch sees daylight, but for the moment, we should still take these reports with a healthy amount of skepticism until Apple actually drops a teaser or a hint that an unveiling is planned for this fall.
