Apple sent out emails today to all iOS developers to inform them of a new requirement for new apps, namely to be built with the iOS 11 SDK (Software Development Kit) and support the iPhone X.

In the email we received today from Apple, the company says that its latest iOS 11 mobile operating system is the most advanced one and brings numerous innovative features, as well as a revamped App Store.

It also reminds us that our iOS apps can deliver a more immersive, intelligent, and unified experience to the hundreds of millions of iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users around the globe by using the latest SiriKit, ARKit, and Core ML technologies.

In addition, developers can use the new camera APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), drag and drop support for iPad devices, new SiriKit domains, and Apple Music integration to enhance their apps for iOS 11.

All new apps must support iOS 11 and iPhone X starting April 2018

And now, the company is urging all iOS app developers to build their new apps with the latest iOS 11 SDK (Software Development Kit), which is included in the Xcode 9 IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for macOS.

The new requirement will go live starting April 2018, and Apple also wants all new apps to support its 10th anniversary iPhone, the iPhone X, most specifically the smartphone's Super Retina display, including universal apps.

"Starting April 2018, all new iOS apps submitted to the App Store must be built with the iOS 11 SDK, included in Xcode 9 or later. All new apps for iPhone, including universal apps, must support the Super Retina display of iPhone X," says Apple in the email.
