Apple has just updated its professional music creation app for the Mac OS X operating system, Logic Pro X, to version 10.2, a release that introduces Alchemy, the ultimate sample manipulation synthesizer.

The addition of Alchemy in Apple's Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software means that users of Logic Pro X will benefit from features like a next-gen synthesizer plugin that includes several audio generators like granular, spectral, additive, virtual analog, sampler, and formant, more than 3,000 presets for all kinds of electronic music, rock, hip-hop, etc.

Moreover, there's now an integrated keyword preset browser that lets Logic Pro X users find the right sounds faster than before, it is possible to combine and manipulate samples in different new ways thanks to the addition of a collection of re-synthesis and morphing tools, as well as to create dynamic, animated instruments thanks to the addition of more than 100 modulation sources.

These modulation sources consist of things like step sequencers, MSEG envelopes, AHDSR envelopes, or flexible LFOs. Moreover, Alchemy lets you import EXS24 instruments, transform plain chords into intricate performances by applying independent arpeggiators to all four sound sources, as well as create complex multi-layered sounds by combining up to four synth modules.

Logic Pro X will also be able to create their EXS24 instruments thanks to the addition of a new set of robust sampler features, produce genuine recreations of iconic synth sounds using virtual analog oscillators, reshape and explore sounds using the new Transform Pad and X/Y Pad Smart controls, and produce sounds that have tonal complexity and vintage characters using a vast array of special and analog effect filters.

Share your sounds to Apple Music Connect

The addition of Alchemy in Logic Pro X brings a great number of effects, including compression, modulation, reverb, multiple distortion effects, and delay. Among other new features introduced by Apple in its professional DAW software, we can mention the ability to share your sounds directly to Apple Music Connect if you have an account, support for the Force Touch trackpad, and the ability to create track icons using custom image files.

Last but not least, Logic Pro X 10.2, which is available for purchase for the sum of £/€/$149.99 in the Mac App Store for 64-bit OS X 10.9 or later operating system, contains over 1,000 new Loops designed by Apple, which cover some of the most popular genres and instruments like Blues, EDM, Indie, Funk, Hip-Hop, and Disco, the ability to sync the MIDI clock with external MIDI devices, as well as stability and performance improvements.
